Vigilantes (자경단) is an unofficial camera app for Silica Gel fans. Three real-time filters turn people into red letters, hang symbols on the lights and fold the stage like a kaleidoscope, in photos and videos.
Android is coming to Google Play.

Three filters
01 BALLAD OF YOU
Ballad of You
People in red letters, the background in black-and-white depth.
Like the ASCII cover of the third album Ballad of You, it turns the people on screen into red letters on white paper. Twenty times a second, half of the cells draw a new letter, so the text never stops moving.
The background is shaded by depth, with closer things rising whiter. iPhones with LiDAR or TrueDepth use that sensor’s depth; otherwise on-device AI estimates it.

02 SYMBOL
Symbol
Symbol-shaped bokeh on sparkling lights.
It finds small lights with dark surroundings, like stage lights or phone lights, and hangs a symbol-shaped bokeh on each in that light’s own color.
Bright light blooms softly, and moving lights leave trails like a long exposure of cars at night.

03 KALEIDOSCOPE
Kaleidoscope
One scene in many layers, as if through a crystal held to the lens.
Picture a round crystal, cut into diamond facets, held right in front of the lens. A few large facets each shift the scene their own way, and their blurred edges overlap translucently.
The crystal drifts slowly as if held in your hand, and white light streaks along its grain.
Move your mouse or finger over the picture to move the crystal.

Features
Photos and videos
Capture exactly what you see with the filter on, in 1080p. Allow the microphone to record sound; without it, videos are recorded silently.
Your library, too
Tap the library button left of the shutter to bring in photos and videos you’ve already taken and apply a filter. Videos are converted start to finish, then saved or shared. Originals stay untouched.
Lenses and zoom
Zoom with the lens buttons or a pinch, and switch between the front and back cameras. On iOS 17.2 or later and on Android, the volume buttons work as a shutter.
Everything stays on your phone
Person segmentation and depth estimation run on AI models inside your phone. Your photos and videos are never sent to a server.
No sign-in, no ads
It’s free. You don’t create an account, and the app has no ads or tracking.
iPhone and Android
The same three filters work on iPhones with iOS 17 or later and on 64-bit Android 10+ devices. Available lenses and zoom range vary by device.
Questions
Is this an official Silica Gel app?
No. Vigilantes is an unofficial app made by a fan, with no connection to Silica Gel or their agency.
Where are my photos saved, and are they sent anywhere?
They’re saved to the Photos app on iPhone and to the gallery (DCIM/Camera) on Android. All filter processing happens on your device, and photos and videos are never sent to the developer’s servers. See the Privacy Policy for details.
The app asks me to download a library add-on.
The person-segmentation model used to filter library photos and videos isn’t bundled with the app. It downloads once, the first time you tap the library button (about 60 MB on iPhone, about 47–93 MB on Android depending on the device). You can keep shooting while it downloads.
Where can I get it on Android?
The Google Play version isn’t out yet. This page will link to it when it is.
Can I use it at concerts?
Every show has its own filming rules. Check the venue’s guidance first, and keep your phone out of other fans’ view.
