Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated: October 11, 2026
This policy applies to Vigilantes (자경단), the iPhone and Android camera apps provided by Sanghyeon Sim.
1. Data collected by the developer through the app
Vigilantes does not require an account or sign-in. The app does not send captured or imported photos, videos, microphone audio, person-segmentation results, or depth information to a developer-operated server. The app does not include advertising, tracking, or a separate usage-analytics service.
Some features do go online, though. Optional add-on downloads, the help and privacy pages on this website, sharing you start yourself, and email support involve the third-party services described below.
2. Information processed on your device
- Camera frames: used locally for real-time filters and capture.
- Microphone audio: recorded with live videos only when you allow microphone access. You can record silent videos without it.
- Selected library media: photos and videos you choose in the system picker are loaded and processed locally for filter previews and conversion. The app does not request broad access to read your entire library.
- Person segmentation and depth: processed locally for visual effects, not to identify people or verify identities. Compatible iPhone cameras can use LiDAR or TrueDepth; other cameras use on-device depth estimation. Android uses on-device models, not LiDAR or TrueDepth.
- Local app state and files: the app keeps on your device whether onboarding is complete, downloaded add-on/model files, and temporary media needed for preview, conversion, or sharing. None of it is kept as an account profile on a developer server.
3. Saving, sharing, and deletion
On iPhone, results are added to Photos when you allow Add to Photos access. Android saves results through MediaStore to DCIM/Camera without broad gallery-read or storage permission. Filtering an imported item does not overwrite its original; saving creates a new result.
Preview, conversion, and sharing can create temporary files in the app’s storage. If you discard a conversion, nothing is saved to your library. You can delete saved results in Photos or your gallery. Uninstalling the app does not automatically delete results already saved outside the app.
Share opens the system share sheet. If you choose another app or destination, that service receives the item you choose to share and handles it under its own policy. Sharing happens only when you start it; the developer doesn’t upload anything automatically.
iCloud Photos, Google Photos, and other backup and sync services follow your own settings and each service’s policy.
4. Optional add-on downloads and external services
The live camera works without the library add-on. The first time you use library editing, the app asks whether to download additional model files.
- iPhone: the app downloads about 60MB of model files over HTTPS from the public Hugging Face repository halfmoon-mind/silicagel-camera-models. It checks the file size and SHA-256 before installing and excludes the downloaded files from iCloud backup.
- Android: Google Play delivers the gallery model files as an on-demand asset pack, under Google’s terms and privacy practices. The size is about 47–93MB, depending on the device.
These steps only download model files. They don’t upload your camera frames or selected media. The download providers and their delivery networks necessarily receive technical connection and request information, such as your IP address. How they handle and retain it is governed by their own policies; this app has no control over it.
The help and privacy pages are hosted on this website (silicagel.halfmoon.day). The website uses no cookies, ads, or visitor analytics, but the web host and the font service (jsDelivr) receive connection information such as your IP address when you open a page. Operating-system services, Photos backup, chosen share destinations, and email providers also have their own policies.
5. Permissions and controls
You can change or revoke camera, microphone, and, on iPhone, Add to Photos access in system Settings. Camera permission is needed for live capture. Microphone permission is optional for live-video sound. Add to Photos permission is needed to save results on iPhone. Importing individual files uses the system picker rather than full-library read permission.
You can decline or cancel the optional add-on download and continue using the live camera. Without the add-on, library editing won’t open. You decide whether to save a result or share it with another service.
6. Email support
If you contact support, the developer uses your email address, your message, and any attachments you choose to send to answer your request and troubleshoot the issue. This is separate from automatic app data collection. Please leave out personal information that isn’t needed.
Support information is retained only as long as needed to handle the request, then deleted unless a legal retention requirement applies. You can request access, correction, or deletion by emailing the address below.
7. Changes and contact
When the app’s features or data handling change, this policy and its date will be updated.
